Seal Coatings

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Seal Coatings' thermal insulation, waterproofing, application methods, certifications, and product specifications.

What is Thermal-Shield technology?

Thermal-Shield is our advanced thermal insulation coating technology that uses ceramic micro-spheres to create a heat barrier. It resists over 95% of UV rays, refracts and dissipates up to 75% of heat, and reduces heat conduction. This results in cooler buildings and significant energy savings.

What surfaces can your coatings be applied to?

Our coatings can be applied to most common surfaces including concrete, plaster walls, metal roofs (galvanized, aluminum), timber, block/brick walls, and powder-coated metal cladding. Each product has specific surface recommendations in its technical datasheet.

Are your products environmentally friendly?

Yes, all our products are water-based and contain no harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). We are members of the Green Building Council Australia and our products contribute to LEED certification points for sustainable building projects.

How long do your coatings last?

Our thermal insulation coatings are designed to last 10+ years with proper application and maintenance. The exact lifespan depends on environmental conditions, surface preparation, and coating thickness. We offer comprehensive warranties on all our products.

How should surfaces be prepared before application?

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from loose material, oil, grease, or previous coatings that are peeling. For best results, surfaces should be pressure washed and allowed to dry completely. Specific preparation requirements are detailed in each product's technical datasheet.

Can I apply the coating myself or do I need a professional?

While our products can be applied by DIY enthusiasts for small projects, we recommend professional application for optimal results, especially for large commercial or industrial projects. We can connect you with certified applicators in your area.

What is the recommended coating thickness?

Recommended thickness varies by product and application. Generally, Thermal-Shield products should be applied at 400-500 microns dry film thickness (DFT) in 2-3 coats. Specific recommendations are in each product's technical documentation.

What weather conditions are suitable for application?

Application should be done when ambient temperature is between 10°C and 35°C, with relative humidity below 85%. Surfaces should not be wet, and no rain should be expected for at least 24 hours after application.

Do you provide installation services?

We work with a network of certified applicators across the UAE and other countries. Contact us for a quote and we can arrange professional application services for your project.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all Emirates in the UAE including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. We also export to over 16 countries worldwide.

Do you offer warranties on your products?

Yes, we offer comprehensive warranties on all our products. Warranty periods range from 5 to 10+ years depending on the product and application. Full warranty terms are provided with each purchase.

Can you provide samples or demonstrations?

Yes, we can provide product samples for testing and evaluation. We also offer on-site demonstrations for large commercial projects. Contact our sales team to arrange this.

What temperature reduction can I expect?

Our Thermal-Shield coatings can reduce surface temperatures by up to 20°C and internal temperatures by 5-8°C, depending on building construction, insulation, and local climate conditions.

Are your products fire resistant?

Our Thermal-Shield products are tested to ASTM E-84 standards and achieve Class A fire rating (lowest flame spread and smoke development). They are suitable for use in buildings requiring fire-resistant materials.

What certifications do your products have?

Our products are ISO certified, CE 1024 compliant (European standards), ASTM E-84 tested (fire retardant Class A), and recognized by the Green Building Council. Full certification documentation is available upon request.

How do I calculate how much product I need?

Coverage rates vary by product and surface type, typically ranging from 1-2 sq.m per liter per coat. Our technical team can provide precise calculations based on your project specifications. Contact us with your surface area and type for a detailed estimate.
